Bang and Olufsen R8 Spyder 5.2 Yankton SD

Ten amplifier channels and 465 watts power 12 speakers. There are two woofers in the doors, two front mid-range speakers, and two front tweeters. An oblong 1.4 x 2.8-inch driver sits in the center of the dash to fill in the sound there. In the back are two more tweeters and two more midrange. The subwoofer is in a ported cabinet.

To get the sound up to 5.1 channels, the system uses Bang and Olufsen's True Image upmix algorithm.

Bang and Olufsen R8 Spyder 5.2

Sorry. Audi. Audi R8 Spyder 5.2

How about a Bang and Olufsen stereo system that does 186 mph? 0-60 in around 4 seconds?

The new R8 Spyder 5.2 has everything the regular R8 5.2 has, except minus the roof and plus an audio system developed exclusively for it by Bang and Olufsen.

All the audio goodness (and some bits about the car) after the jump.

The audio system in the R8 Spyder 5.2 is based on the one found in its hard-topped brethren. But additional tuning was done because of the increased road and wind noise from the soft top. The audio system detects via microphone the additional road noise when the roof is open and adjusts the EQ to compensate.

The 525-hp V10 allegedly sounds good too, all the way up to its 8,700(!) rpm rev limit.

The Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 goes on sale in Germany in the spring, and rumor has it Stateside a few months later.

PRICE:
Bang and Olufsen system in Audi R8 Spyder 5.2: €156,400 (not available without vehicle)
