Definitive Technologies Mythos XTR-50
By HE Staff
Def Tech has announced the new Mythos XTR line of speakers.
What's special? How about they're only 1.5-inches thick.
All the info after the jump.
Designed to go with the new crop of ultra-thin LCD and plasma TVs, the Mythos XTR use aluminum extensively for light weight, strength, and heat dissipation (from the drivers).
The key to the XTR's thinness is Def Tech's XTDD driver technology, which compresses all the necessary elements of a normal speaker driver into a thinner space. Each XTR-50 has a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter (the same as found in the Mythos ST ), two 3.5-inch XTDD anodized Aluminum dome mid/bass drivers and four 3.5-inch woofers.
Frequency response is a claimed 92 Hz to 30 kHz with a sensitivity of 92 dB. Each XTR-50 weighs only 5.1 pounds.
