Lighting control can range from a simple outdoor light fixture with a built-in light sensor to programmable systems that can control and coordinate hundreds of lights within a home. A lighting control system not only makes it easier to control your lights, it can actually anticipate what lights you would want to turn on and off and perform the task for you. Read more...
The Audio Technica and Denon are closed-back (aka sealed) designs that isolate the listener from external, ambient noise, and both feature real wood earcups. People who listen in bed or in noisy environments tend to gravitate to closed-back headphones. Read more...
The DMP-BD80K starts up and loads discs pretty fast. Not PS3 fast, but fast for a “regular” Blu-ray player. Processing of DVDs is quite good, especially given the price. The waving flag test had minimal jaggies, as did the rotating bar test (both from the Silicon Optics Test DVD). Scaling of DVD content is also good. Not the best I’ve seen, but better than most and probably better than your TV. Read more...
The generous connection panel features four HDMI and three component video inputs, as well as a CableCARD slot and dual RF inputs to access the internal tuners, with the TV Guide Daily program guide. A side-panel USB port allows for easy viewing of JPEG photos. The HDMI inputs accept 1080p/60 and 1080p/24 signals, and they are the only means of inputting digital audio to the sound bar. The Cabaret offers a solution for those who don't want to mount a fixed screen, but don't want to cut gaping holes in their ceiling for a drop-down screen. As you can see from the pictures, the Cabaret mounts to the wall, with the screen rolled up inside. It comes in pretty much any color you can think of to match your wall or décor. Read more...
As you'd expect, the AVR-4810CI decodes all the latest audio formats. Each of the receiver's nine channels puts out 140 watts. For front height channels, there is Dolby ProLogic IIz processing and Audyssey's DSX (which adds the possibility of width channels as well). Audyssey's MultEQ XT 8-point room correction processing is also inside. All incoming video signals, regardless of resolution or input, can be upconverted/transcoded to HDMI and 1080p. Read more...
The 7.2-channel TX-SR608 is THX-Select2 Plus certified and has 100 watts per channel. In addition to Dolby ProLogic IIz height processing, there is now Audyssey DSX for height and width capabilities. Video processing, scaling, and transcoding is done via a Faroudja DCDi Cinema chip. Read on to know more about it. Read more...
Moving away from the center, there wasn't the usual drop-off found with many other speakers. So if you have a wide room or a lot of seats, the XQ40s would be a good choice to ensure those seated at the edges of your theater still get decent sound. Read more...
