Sennheiser HD 800 Headphones Burlington IA

According to Sennheiser, the HD 800’s 56mm transducer is the largest that you can currently find in a dynamic headphone. A larger transducer surface area allows for purer low-frequency reproduction but can create undesirable resonances at the diaphragm with higher frequencies. Sennheiser’s patented ring design is meant to minimize any potential distortion in the highs.

Sennheiser HD 800 Headphones

High end and high comfort.

The show may be over, but there are still a lot of cool products to highlight – beginning with Sennheiser’s new set of audiophile headphones, the HD 800. These over-the-ear headphones incorporate several new advancements from Sennheiser, including a new type of transducer and a special ear cup design.

Sennheiser HD 800 Headphones

According to Sennheiser, the HD 800’s 56mm transducer is the largest that you can currently find in a dynamic headphone. A larger transducer surface area allows for purer low-frequency reproduction but can create undesirable resonances at the diaphragm with higher frequencies. Sennheiser’s patented ring design is meant to minimize any potential distortion in the highs. The company rates the headphones’ frequency response at 6 to 51,000 Hz.

Furthermore, to more closely mimic the sound we hear from two loudspeakers, the HD 800 directs the sound wave to the ear at an angle of 45 degrees for a more natural listening experience.

The transducer is encased by a precision material made of stainless steel, while the circumaural ear cups, made of Japanese Alcantara material, are designed to fit comfortably around the ears for long listening sessions.

The HD 800 headphones will be available in the March/April time frame.

Sennheiser HD 800: $1399.95
