Bravo for BRAVIA.
At its press conference, Sony showed off the new BRAVIA KDL-XBR10 Series of LCD HDTVs, the first in Sony’s line to feature edgelit LED backlighting.
As the name suggests, the edgelit LED design positions the LEDs around the edges of the panel, as opposed to the full array of LEDs found in Sony’s previous LED offerings. The main benefit of the edgelit design is that it allows for a super-slim profile.
In addition to its sleek form, this new top-shelf 1080p line offers Motionflow 240Hz technology, RS-232 control, and an Ethernet port to access Sony’s BRAVIA Internet Video content, which includes BRAVIA Internet Widgets, YouTube, Amazon video-on-demand, and (sometime this fall) Netflix. These TVs are also DLNA-compliant and support streaming of music, photo, and movie files.
The XBR10 Series also supports wireless HD video transmission. You can send a 1080p signal wirelessly from your source components to the TV’s built-in wireless receiver.
The line includes screen sizes of 46 and 52 inches and will be available in October.
